My internship journey with IFortis Corporate, India

Internship bridges between academics and actual business environment. It’s not only about gaining experience but also it improves the attitudes, knowledge and skills of one in work environment. I undertook a two months internship in IFortis Corporate as a sales and marketing intern.

On Boarding:

Through LinkedIn I applied for an internship in IFortis Corporate and the response from other side was quick. Initially I was asked to fill the form where I had to share my interests and details later in second and last round I had been given a case study and the topic was under digital marketing.

With the COVID-19 in picture, I could not get to start my work from office space, and was asked to settle with work from home. Interestingly my team leader at IFortis, Sharsti made it an easy go with wonderful induction. She always used to opt for interactive knowledge transfers and made sure we are able to connect the dots. She was able to create interest in IFortis on day 1.

We were explained on current verticals that IFortis is working on, and it ranges from information technology services to digital marketing and recently it has started with event management too. IFortis has always been a global corporate player by enacting social responsibility under its CSR measure. While many corporates limit it to a day of activity including donation towards the needy, IFortis stands aside. Company has always come up with interesting ideas which has supported the vast category of eco system like to be entrepreneurs, women, economically weaker section etc.

As an intern they have assigned a task to me STEP AHEAD project .It’s an India’s largest virtual school fiesta held on 26th and 27th June, 2021. Their aim is to bring together school kids from all over the world and providing opportunity to showcase their talent and increase their skills. STEP HEAD is an international level competition and their attempt to secure place in unique world records and international book of records.

We were explained on our learning path. We were communicated that we get opportunity to apply marketing funnel and sales funnel in real time and work on sales. We were explained on concepts thereafter, which seemed to give us new point of views and view on how marketing and sales are interrelated.

The complete journey of customer as persona starting from lead to prospect and prospect to customer was the foundation of our internship learning. To generate leads we started by applying our UI skills in bringing posters for social media marketing. The task was to attract kids of 2–12 years to compete in largest virtual competition of world.

We were asked to share the reaction back to Sharsti on the day end, so that she could explain the pit falls in our marketing strategy and then she used to support in rectifying such issues. Within a week of time I was able to break my first sale, may the amount be meager the experience was great. Thanks to Sharsti and IFortis.

IFortis is also planning to expand there vertical with entering textile industry, which is a great move amid COVID tension which has pushed many blue collared workers to back home. The thought behind IFortis is to primarily create employment and expand the IFortis brand. Being set up in third world, textile is ever emerging and with right leadership that remains USP as IFortis, I anticipate an early break even for the firm.
